Die kleine Insel Mathraki gehört zur Inselgruppe der Diapontischen Inseln und ist ein Teil der Ionischen Inseln. Die nur rund 4 Quadratkilometer grosse Insel ist rund 4 km lang und an der breitesten Stelle 1,5 km breit. Es gibt auf Mathraki nur eine Strasse, die von Ano Mathraki im Norden nach Kato Mathraki im den südlichenn Hügeln. Von dieser Strasse führen Wege zu verschiedenen einsamen Buchten und Stränden und ein paar kleinen Häfen, wo Fischerboote anlegen. Die Westküste ist eher steil abfallend während die Ostküste schöne Sandstrände hat. Die Insel liegt rund 2 nautische Meilen vor der Nordwestküste Korfus entfernt. Höchste Hügel ist der Vouno oder Samothraki mit 150 Metern.
Heute leben zwischen 100 Menschen auf der Insel. Die meisten verteilen sich auf die zwei Weiler Ano Mathraki und Kato Mathraki und leben von der Landwirtschaft und einigen wenigen Touristen, die sich auf der Insel jährlich einfinden. Die meisten davon sind allerings nur Tagestouristen von der Nachbarinsel Korfu.
Fähre: Regelmässige Verbindung von Kerkyra (Korfu) und im Sommer von den Ferienorten der Nordküste Korfus zum Hafen an der Nordküste Mathrakis.

The smal island of Mathraki belongs to the island group of the diapontia islands which is a part of the ionic islands. The island covers only 4 square kilometers of land. It is about 4 kilometer long and at its widest 1.5 kilometers wide. There is only one street which runs across the island from Ano Mathraki in the north to Kato Mathraki in the hills of the south. If you walk along these road, you will find several paths leading downa to bays, beaches or small harbours. The west coast is rather steep whereas you will find sandy beaches at the east coast. The island lies about 2 nautic miles north of the northern coast of Corfu. The highest hill, called Samothraki, ist 150 Meters high.
There are about 100 People (depending on the source) leaving on the island permanently. Most of them in the two main villages Ano Mathraki and Kato Mathraki. They make their living on acriculture and the few tourists, who mainly come across from Corfu for the day.
Ferries: There are regularly ferries from Kerkyra (Corfu Town) and during summer holliday some ferries from the tourist centres in the north of Corfu.
