Marathi, no more than just be
Inhabitants: 5-10
If you are definately up for a change, if you can't bear the masses any more you should definately head for Marathi. There isn't much to do on the island. Two pensions, a Taverna, some goats, stones, water and plenty of spare time for reading that is all you get. But don't claim afterwards we didn't warn you! One Beach and two Room owners The greek island of Marathi lies between the island of Lipsi and Arki. There isn't a real village on the tiny rock, but fortunately, there are two pensions which serve food too. This is especially important because there is no shop on the island. The one who travels to greece to stay for himself and find silence and piece, that's the place to head for. But be aware: there is no Bank, no AMT, no police, no doctor or goverment office. On the other hand there is no street too, no cars, no business but at least a cementry and of course, a church. Nightlife or any other entertainment does not exist. Time to read or talk to follow travellers who sometimes find their way to Marathi.
Suitable for: Dreamers, philosophers, beach lovers (without people) and readers Size: Very, very small Natur: Marathi exists mainly of shrubs and rocks. But there is a nice beach and some goats which watch you swimming. Enough to be, anyway. History: Unknown (probably not to man, but to me and the internet) Hotels and Rooms:
Restaurants: There is a small taverna. Ferries: There are some tourist boats during the summer months which connect the neighbouring Islands of Lipsi and Patmos to the island if the wether is fine. On Arki you can ask for lokal fishermen to bring you to the island. Long 37.367702, Lat 26.7228 Text: © inselhuepfen.ch
