To say it straight: There is no timetable for all shipping companies of the greek islands. This is probably the best thing one can say about this matter. The reason is, that there are many privat shipping companies which serve the island independendly. During main season, there are much more ferry connections than there during off-seasons. This could be a problem if you think about visiting the island in early spring or late October. It is even worse during winter time or if there is bad weather providing the vessels to leave their harbours. If you want to be on the safe side, the best thing you can to is: get you informed!
Ferries from Europe to Greece
These are the easiest connection, because they are usually regular and pronounced in advance. You will find many information in the internet too. Links to this Ferries are provided in the menus on the right.
Ferries from the Greek mainland to the islands.
There are plenty of ferries connecting the mainland (Pireas, Thessaloniki, Kalamata, Igoumenitsa and Patras) with the Greek islands. Here too there is a big competion between the shipping companies. But because of the big vessels and the reason that they often provide the islands with daily goods they sail pretty regularly. But be aware that there can be a big delay because of bad wheater situation. This can be a problem if you have to reach your flight at the airport of Athens. Best thing to do ist to plan a day in Athens.
Ferries between the Greek islands.
This is the most important part for islandhoppers. In the same time it is also the most difficult part. There are many different small to very small companies which provide these services. They are often only represented by a lokal travel agency or own a small ticket box at the habour. These is one of the reason why you often get no precise information if you inquire at the office of a travel agency. Asked if there is a ferry to your favourite island on a certain day, they will answer you "no" only because they do not sell tickets for this ferry. So always make sure you aks in different agencies or even go down to the harbour and watch out for ticket offices or timetables fixed to lamp posts etc.

Do I have to buy ferry tickets in advance?
If you travel during the off-season, which is in Greece April to mid-Junde and End of September to October, you must not buy tickets in advance. You can get them easily a day before departure at the local travel agency or one hour befor departure down at the harbours. This my be different if you travel with a car especially form Europe to Greece.
